The Web Designer is responsible for providing concept design and web expertise throughout all stages of website production. This job includes conceptualization, design, and technical delivery of Flash applications, as well as constructing and maintaining University-related websites. The Web Designer is responsible for updating, supporting and administering existing University websites, as well as creating new pages, websites, custom applications, and online based programs.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education
A Bachelors Degree in a related field is preferred for this position.
Experience and Training
Employee must have experience with the following technologies: PHP, AJAX, CSS, Javascript, HTML. Employee must have experience with web editing and multimedia editing software, such as Dreamweaver, Flash, and Photoshop. Web and multimedia authoring experience is necessary, as well as knowledge of Social Media. Strong end-user support is a must.
Knowledge, Skills, Ability
Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal skills are essential. Must be able to meet deadlines. Must have good team participation skills, quality improvement skills, tactical execution skills, problem solving and analysis skills, and consulting skills. Strong layout and interface design skills. Must possess a good sense of visual style and layouts. Needs to have strong proofreading skills. Ability to provide accurate, timely and creative solutions to web related requests. Must be thorough and detail oriented. Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment. Candidate should be able to think strategically as well as creatively. Database experience is preferred. Must have the ability to set priorities, plan/organize, and deliver projects in an efficient manner. Must have experience developing LAMP applications.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
• Design, develop, implement, document, support, and maintain web pages
• Manage content for various University-related websites
• Manage HTML email campaigns
• Create custom websites for special campus events
• Ensure consistent quality
• Content Management
• Interface with departments on campus to enhance and support new and existing websites
• Work with academic departments on campus to promote the ongoing creation and development of engaging, relevant content
• Advise on content for digital displays across campus
• Perform other duties as needed
ACCOUNTABILITY
With guidance, this person is responsible for recommending and making practically all decisions related to web design as it pertains to business alignment and necessity, its setup, implementation, delivery and functionality. This position will be responsible for making careful and well educated decisions to assure the quality of web design at High Point University is maintained.
